Giving Tuesday is a day for people across the globe to give back to their communities through their time, talents, and/or financial contributions – inviting people to help create a better world. While change is needed beyond just the individual level, our collective action can help spark inspiration in others and bring more eyes to the cause of championing sustainability! For those looking to help mitigate the implications of climate change and to make a difference in the built environment, we would be grateful for your donation to Verdani Institute for the Built Environment (VIBE), Verdani’s non-profit. The built environment is currently responsible for about 40% of global emissions, according to the World Green Building Council; VIBE is dedicated to changing that, by decarbonizing and scaling climate-friendly buildings as rapidly as possible by promoting green building education for current and future generations of commercial real estate (CRE) and sustainability professionals.

In connection with VIBE’s educational commitment, VIBE’s children book Earth’s Climate Heroes will be made free on November 28th (for Giving Tuesday) for download. This book, released in 2021, was developed as a tool for parents, educators, and mentors to help contextualize climate change and environmentalism to younger generations. Written by Verdani and VIBE’s founder (and mom) Daniele Horton, Earth’s Climate Heroes is a powerful yet accessible story on the causes of climate change, the solutions that exist to heal our planet, and how all of us can make a tangible difference in building a future that is vibrant, sustainable, and equitable. This book makes a great holiday gift and can be ordered in bulk for gifts, classrooms, or children's groups.

One of VIBE's most salient offerings is our enlightening and informative series of Sustainable Built Environment Guidance Reports. These comprehensive free educational resources cover everything from green building strategies to ESG, Decarbonization, Resilience, and Biodiversity. They are indispensable for professionals, educators, students, and anyone passionate about positive climate action through sustainable real estate.

Verdani Community Engagement
|
|
Verdani team members continue to show how much we care about the world around us - even beyond our climate work. Our team has made a difference with an array of volunteering efforts; Verdani supplies our employees with paid volunteer days to incentivize community service and engagement.
Several team members from our Carlsbad, California headquarters participated in volunteer events with Botanical Community Development Initiatives (BCDI) at its Community Roots Farm, where Verdani employees helped source sustainably grown produce. The produce is served in meals to children in local state-funded preschools that are in low socioeconomic neighborhoods where access to fresh food is lacking. The farm also serves as a learning-site for those interested in learning how to grow food sustainably, productively, and profitably in a small farm setting. Verdani employees in Carlsbad attended this event several weeks in a row, and our employees based out of our headquarters and elsewhere look forward to continuing community service efforts in 2024!
