Verdani stewards the environment through sustainable practices that protect and enhance the planet’s resources for future generations.
Verdani drives environmental stewardship by promoting resource conservation and employing strategies for climate change mitigation and adaptation. We safeguard humanity and the planet by advocating for a low-carbon economy, fortifying buildings, portfolios, and communities to withstand environmental challenges.
The Science Based Targets initiative® (SBTi) guides companies on how much and how quickly to reduce greenhouse gas emissions for future-proof growth. The 2015 Paris Agreement committed 195 governments to limit global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius. Many companies have set ambitious emission reduction goals aligned with climate science and are already showing they cannot achieve these targets. At Verdani, we help clients re-evaluate their targets to ensure they meet the decarbonization levels required to keep global temperature increases below 2 degrees Celsius.
Science Based Targets Initiative
In July 2018, in partnership with the The Science Based Targets initiative, Verdani Partners joined hundreds of companies committing to taking action to embrace climate science. In January 2021, our target was approved.
As part of our SBTi target, we aim to reduce absolute scope 1 & 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 from a 2018 baseline year. Additionally, Verdani intends to limit scope 3 emissions by internally tracking and engaging the team to minimize our overall carbon footprint. Our target is in line with keeping global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Green Certifications
At our headquarters in Carlsbad, CA, we are committed to pursuing and achieving green building certifications to promote health, wellness, and sustainable operations. We encourage and guide our clients in this journey as well. Meeting the criteria for these certifications is a significant accomplishment that requires continuous effort to improve performance scores and enhance operational efficiencies at the building level.
Our headquarters earned our first ENERGY STAR® certification from the EPA with a score of 96. Our office underwent an extensive renovation that included LED lighting, occupancy sensors, and monitoring of appliances and equipment when not in use. We maintain data quality by consistently aggregating data from our electric utility that flows directly into ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager® and by utilizing the analytics in our office software to update the on-site occupancy regularly.
We have submitted our LEED® v4.1 O+M: Existing Interiors certification application for our headquarters, reinforcing our commitment to operational excellence and environmental stewardship. This certification evaluates critical areas such as whole-building cleaning and maintenance, recycling programs, exterior upkeep, and system upgrades. Achieving this milestone would underscore our committment to sustainability and continuous improvement.
Verdani is now part of the Fitwel® Provider program, joining a group of industry-leading companies demonstrating their commitment to healthy buildings and empowering their staff and clients to promote and implement Fitwel at scale. We anticipate submitting an application for Fitwel certification of our Carlsbad headquarters by Q4 2025.
Verdani recently earned the Innovator Tier Certification for building operations of our headquarters from the Carlsbad Green Business Program and is now certified as a Green Business by the City of Carlsbad.
With the help of our strategic partner, All About Waste, we completed a waste audit of our Carlsbad headquarters. Using the results of the audit, we are preparing our application for TRUE® certification.
