The Season of Giving Has Arrived
|
|
November 30th is GivingTuesday, which is an important day of global generosity where we collectively celebrate all acts of giving. Since 2012, GivingTuesday has inspired hundreds of millions of people around the world to collaborate, give back and do good.
This year, we are sharing the message of Verdani Institute for the Built Environment (VIBE) to help catalyze action for climate solutions. Never before has there been a greater need for action to stabilize Earth’s climate as the present. Scientists report that in order to limit temperature-rise to 1.5 degrees, the next 10 years will be critical. The time to act is now. We invite you to give generously to fuel impactful action and meaningful change.

Help Build
a Vibrant Future
|
|
VIBE was founded by Verdani Partners as a mission-driven, non-profit organization to make the building sector a powerful solution to our climate challenge by encouraging sustainable development around the world. Please see our video here!

By working with our vast networks including educators, building professionals, environmental organizations, developers and industry groups, we promote and distribute powerful resources to educate and train thousands of students and industry professionals. Our goal is to inspire them to sustainably improve the built environment for a better climate and catalyze collaborative action to combat climate change — creating a thriving and more resilient planet for future generations.
One of VIBE’s major projects is developing the Sustainable Real Estate 12-part textbook series, which is a resource for educators and professionals to scale the understanding of commercial real estate sustainability opportunities and help drive immediate action on climate change.
Donations will enable VIBE to develop, publish and distribute this important textbook, reach thousands of building professionals for workforce development and deepen the collective knowledge and capacity to improve our climate.
In this season of giving, we invite you to share a gift as a part of a growing organization capable of scaling concrete solutions to climate change in the building sector.
Holiday donation opportunities:
- $50 for free E-Book, $75 for free paperback
- $30k to sponsor each book in the series, $350k for the series
Gifts in any amount are tax deductible, and thanks to a generous matching donation program from Verdani Partners, every dollar you give by December 31, 2021 will be tripled, up to $50,000.

Next Generation Climate Heroes
|
|
VIBE believes we have a responsibility to teach young children about climate change; we aim to help them to be change agents in creating a more sustainable future. Launched on Earth Day 2021, Earth's Climate Heroes is a book written by Daniele Horton primarily for young children ages 5 to 10, but broadly useful for anyone looking for a powerful yet accessible story about what causes climate change, what solutions exist to heal our planet and how each and every one of us can make a tangible difference.
Written by a mother who also has a robust background in climate science and sustainable development, Earth's Climate Heroes is a colorful, bright and richly illustrated book to capture the imagination of children while evoking a sense of hope and inspiring action.
We invite you to purchase this beautiful gift that can help inspire the next generation of climate heroes! Proceeds go towards funding the climate action movement, building a crowd-sourced map of global youth activists, donating books to schools and libraries and supporting multiple language translations.

500 Trees
PLANTED IN CALIFORNIA & BRAZIL

60 Bags
OF INVASIVE SPECIES REMOVED FROM TORREY PINES BY VERDANI VOLUNTEERS
|
|
Verdani Partners’ social giving program, Verdani Cares, focuses on special initiatives throughout the year to give back to our employees and communities.
In 2021, Verdani donated to VIBE, the San Diego Green Building Council (SDGBC), the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Women in Sustainability Leadership Awards (WSLA) organization.
Verdani also donated to One Tree Planted, which funds the planting of 500 trees in both Brazil and California to help replenish forests.
Some Verdani team members also volunteered time with the Torrey Pines Docent Society to remove highway iceplant (Carpobrotus edulis) along the Parry Grove Trail, successfully removing over 60 bags of invasive species during the volunteer day.
Verdani also provided ongoing support for employees with a pandemic stipend, which could be used towards any items the employee needed support with such as groceries, mental health support, cleaning services, etc.

In Verdani’s most recent article, 2021 IPCC Climate Change Report: Impacts and Actions for Real Estate, we share an analysis of the Sixth Assessment Report provided recently by The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
The article explores how global warming is unequivocally caused by human activities and every region on earth is already being negatively impacted. Due to slow action to address climate change, the new IPCC report deviates from previous IPCC predictions in highlighting that 1.5 degrees of warming is likely inevitable in the next 20-30 years, even if we begin rapidly reducing emissions today.
Read on to learn more about what actions can be taken and how all industries can play a part in rapid decarbonization.
