Over the past several months and in 2022, our clients have earned industry awards, and our team has received several prestigious recognitions, which is a testament to our team's commitment to delivering excellence in green building certifications. In addition to these accomplishments, we are delighted to announce some significant changes within our team. At our core, we remain dedicated to our mission of delivering exceptional certifications services to our valued clients. We hope you find this newsletter informative and inspiring as we continue to work towards our shared goals of excellence and success. 2022 Green Building Certification Awards 35 IREM CSP Initial Certifications 28 LEED Recertifications 5 Fitwel Initial Certifications 4 Fitwel Recertifications 1 IREM CSP Recertification 1 LEED Initial Certification 1 Fitwel VRM Certification A total of 31,768,961 GSF was awarded. Additionally, 1 Fitwel Built Project Gap Analysis, 1 Fitwel Design Project Gap Analysis, 1 WELL GAP Analysis, and 1 LEED EBOM Gap Analysis were completed. The projects included Multifamily Residential, Office, Industrial, Laboratory, and Mixed-Use project types. 2022 Recognitions & Awards Fitwel Best In Building Health Awards Fitwel Best In Building Health Awards: “Best in Building Health honors best-in-class real estate companies and individuals who are leading the healthy building movement by example, leveraging Fitwel’s data-driven, scalable technology platform to set the bar for excellence in building health.” Jamestown’s 18 Tremont in Boston, Massachusetts (pictured below) was recognized for Highest Scoring Fitwel Multi-Tenant Base Building v2.1 Built Project. The project was led by Michael Kloha, Certifications Manager at Verdani Partners, with the support of the Verdani Certifications team. Learn more about Clarion’s Fitwel program in their 2021-2022 Annual ESG Report. Best in Building Health Awards are issued by The Center for Active Design (CfAD) annually; categories vary annually. Clarion Partners received the Industry Leadership Award for Portfolio Benchmarking on March 23, 2023. Clarion did not apply to pursue this award, but fees were paid in conjunction with the portfolio benchmarking program. Madison Dorman, Associate Director of Certifications at Verdani Partners, was recognized as a Top 20 Fitwel Ambassador for 2022. International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) Investing for Health Advisory Board Samantha Varela, WELL Certifications Manager at Verdani Partners, was accepted as an International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) Advisory Board Member. These advisors shape the evolution of WELL and raise the bar for performing organizations and communities around the world. Certifications Team Updates Promotions and Anniversaries: Madison Dorman January 2, promoted to Associate Director of Certifications Michael Kloha January 14 4-year work anniversary Samantha Varela January 20 1-year work anniversary New Employee: Welcome to John Paul (JP) Efe who has joined the Certifications team as a Certifications Analyst. JP has a background in design and construction, and previously worked for Visionarch as a Sustainability Specialist. With nine years of experience in architecture and engineering, he specializes in green building certification processes, with a focus on creating sustainable structures that minimize their impact on the environment. As a LEED Green Associate and BERDE Assessor for the Philippine green building rating system, he is able to share his knowledge and experience with every project, offering insights and solutions to help clients achieve their sustainability goals. Certification Resources WELL, Fitwel, and LEED have updates to their systems and procedures in 2023. Please see our blog for detailed coverage of the updates impacting our client projects and programs. Verdani Blog Time-sensitive updates 1. New Fitwel version: Fitwel v3 is being launched on May 15, 2023. This new version will have updates to the reference guides, including new strategies, new scorecards, example documentation, and changes to the strategy point values. Projects that register before May 2023 will receive a 5% discount (on top of Fitwel Champion and Provider discounts) on Fitwel project fees. Learn more here: Fitwel v3 Introduction 2. New LEED pricing: LEED will launch a new pricing schedule on May 1, 2023. You can find more details here: 2023 LEED Pricing Article The increase from the current fees, that have been in place since 2016, is about 12% on average. Projects may pre-pay any LEED registration and certification fees by April 30 to lock in current rates. 2023 Certification Deadlines Fitwel To guarantee a 2023 award, Fitwel applications are due by the following: August 25 for general users September 8 for Ambassadors September 22 for Champions + Providers October 6 for Recertifications WELL It is recommended to submit the project for preliminary documentation review by July 24 to allow enough time for final document review, performance reviews, and appeals to earn a certification for 2023. Each review phase is 25 business days. You can find a WELL v2 project timeline calculator here: Timeline Estimator WELL Recertification Begin the recertification process up to 12 months before the certification expiration date. WELL at Scale Review period every 12 months (documentation submission every 6 months) from initial submission. IREM CSP To guarantee a 2023 award, IREM CSP certifications are due by November 15. LEED To guarantee a 2023 award, LEED applications are due by the following: To guarantee an award before the end of 2023, projects must submit applications and clear payment by 9:00 AM (ET) on September 6. To guarantee an award before Greenbuild 2023, projects must submit applications and clear payment by 9:00 AM (ET) on June 6.
