Verdani Vitals Holiday 2020 | December 2020

Holiday Greetings from Verdani Partners!

NEWSLETTER / HOLIDAY 2020

Wrapping Up Quite a Year

Dear <<First Name>>,
2020 has been the year of holding steady and ensuring long-term resilience. Our entire team remains diligent and steadfast to sustaining progress and performance for our clients. Despite the challenges we have collectively faced, the Verdani team grew with an additional six skilled professionals, more professional credentials and numerous promotions across every department.

We are particularly proud of Daniele Horton, Verdani Partners’ Founder and President, who was selected as the USGBC Women in Green 2020 Shero of the Year for Purpose in the Pacific Region. The Shero of the Year mission is to amplify the work and voice of USGBC’s women leaders and their steadfast commitment to advancing a sustainable, healthy, resilient and equitable future for all. Also, Shubha Maheswari, Executive Director of Sustainability at Verdani, was selected for the annual Environment+Energy Leader (E+E) 100 list which recognizes those environment and energy “doers” who blaze the trail in creating new solutions, programs, platforms, best practices and products to help their companies.

As ESG remains top of mind, we are grateful to have accelerated progress on our clients' performance goals, advanced our building health and climate resilience programs, expanded existing contracts and to have supported clients in setting aggressive net zero targets. This year, we submitted 31 GRESB real estate assessments for 10 national and international clients and achieved top rankings for many clients including 4 Regional Sector Leaders in Standing Investments and Development. Our certifications team completed a vast number of green building certifications including 7 LEED Platinum, 8 LEED Gold, 3 Green Globes,1 Fitwel 3-Star Rating, and 2 Fitwel 2-Star Ratings. To date, our communications team has written and designed over
40 annual sustainability, ESG and CSR reports.

As we move into 2021, we remain determined and optimistic that our purpose-driven work at Verdani Partners will keep us inspired as we advance sustainability in the built environment! We wish you a very Happy Holiday season and a resilient New Year!

Holiday Giving
for a Vibrant Future

The Verdani Institute for the Built Environment (VIBE) was founded by Verdani Partners as a mission-driven non profit organization to make the building sector a solution to our climate challenge, and underpinning sustainable development around the world.

By working through our vast networks in the educators, building professionals, developers and trade groups, we plan to promote and distribute powerful resources to educate thousands of students and professionals, inspire them that better buildings for a better climate and catalyze coordinated action among them to combat climate change—creating a thriving and more resilient planet for future generations.

In this season of giving, we invite you to share a gift and be a part of a growing organization capable of scaling concrete solutions to climate change in the building sector.

Supporting Next Generation Climate Heroes

At the Verdani Institute for the Built Environment (VIBE), we believe we have a responsibility to teach young children about climate change and to help them be change agents in creating a more sustainable future. Climate Heroes is a book written by Daniele Horton for primarily young children ages 5 to 10, but broadly useful for anyone looking for a powerful yet accessible story on what causes climate change, what solutions exist to heal our planet and how each and every one of us can make a tangible difference.

Written by a mother who also has a robust background in climate science and sustainable development, Climate Heroes is colorful, bright and richly illustrated to capture the imagination of children while evoking a sense of hope.

We welcome you to provide a gift that can inspire the next climate hero! Gifts in any amount are tax deductible and, thanks to a generous match donation from Verdani Partners, every dollar you give by December 31, 2020 will be doubled, up to $20,000.

Verdani Cares

$1,000

WORTH OF TREES TO HELP RESTORE BURNED AREAS

COVID-19

CREATED & DONATED PPE TO OUR EMPLOYEES, LOCAL COMMUNITIES,
& TO OTHERS IN NEED

Verdani Cares is the social giving arm of Verdani Partners, with special initiatives throughout the year to give back to our employees and our communities. From the onset of the pandemic, Verdani mobilized quickly to respond to the COVID-19 crisis by creating and donating personal protective equipment to our employees, local communities and to others in need. We coordinated grocery pickup and deliveries for our local and remote staff and grew food in our backyard garden that we distributed to neighbors and team members. Prepared well women kits and distributed them to a local womens shelter. This year we also took action for social justice and have made donations to social justice and human rights organizations as well as completed an unconscious bias training and celebrated the rich diversity of our team. In addition, due to the devastating wildfires in 2020, our gift back to the Earth this year was the donation of $1,000 for tree planting through the American Forests organization to help replenish lost forests.
