| | Earth Day is a galvanizing moment to reflect on the irreplaceable value of our planet —and the urgent need to protect its finite resources for generations to come. At Verdani, we believe that environmental stewardship is more critical than ever, especially in a time when longstanding protections for climate and natural resources face new threats. Our commitment remains steadfast: to advocate for resilient communities, accelerate sustainable practices, and champion a healthier future for all.
We’re proud to recognize the meaningful actions taken by our team and clients to honor Earth Day and drive positive impact across our communities.
This year’s Earth Day theme Our Power, Our Planet inspired our team to create a portfolio of distributable collateral promoting clean energy solutions. These materials were shared across Verdani’s social media channels and distributed by many of our clients to their tenants and building occupants. |

| In addition to our advocacy efforts, we were proud to achieve new heights with an ENERGY STAR recertification based on a score of 99 and a certification from the Carlsbad Green Business Program, and to see clients celebrate Earth Day with engagement events and activities.
In this Earth Day Vitals issue we highlight recent activities and achievements from Verdani and our clients, our latest thought leadership articles, and information about this important holiday, which we hope inspires you to unite with us in celebrating planet earth. |
| | | This year’s theme for Earth Day was Our Power, Our Planet, calling for us all to examine how renewable energy technologies enhance our energy landscape while contributing to the greater good.
Corporate influence can help shape society for the better. By embracing the benefits and opportunities presented by renewable energy technologies, we can become more effective advocates and accelerate efforts toward a future with greater energy security and prosperity for all. |

| | Supporting the Transition to Clean Energy There is already strong market momentum for renewable energy. Production costs, employment trends, and a growing pipeline of projects all point to a bright future for the clean energy sector. This Earth Day we encouraged actionable steps to help advance the transition:
Strong Market Signals: Over 50% of the global energy workforce already works in clean energy. In 2023, U.S. clean energy jobs grew more than twice as fast as jobs in the broader economy. (SOURCE) Solar and wind are the most economical sources for new energy capacity —and by 2030, the cost of adding renewables will be 60–70% lower than adding new natural gas. By 2030, reduction in pollution and climate impacts from clean energy could save $4.2 trillion annually. In the U.S., renewable energy projects make up over 90% of proposed generation facilities awaiting connection to the grid, showcasing strong demand and readiness for deployment. (SOURCE)
How to Help Advance Clean Energy: Support policies that accelerate clean energy development and responsible permitting reform. Choose clean energy options through utilities and service providers. Integrate the price of carbon into operations and purchasing decisions. Install on-site solar energy systems to stabilize costs and reduce emissions. Lease available rooftop or exterior space for renewable energy generation. Share resources with tenants on reducing energy use and participating in green programs.

| | We’re proud to share recent milestones that reflect our ongoing commitment to corporate responsibility and operational excellence.
Our office recently earned our second ENERGY STAR certification with an outstanding score of 99, an increase from last year's score of 96. This achievement indicates that our office is more energy efficient than 99% of similar properties nationwide — a testament to our Operations team's ongoing leadership in sustainability, Including undertaking a full LED lighting retrofit. |
|
| In addition, Verdani achieved the Innovator Tier Certification from the Carlsbad Green Business Program and became a new member of the California Green Business Network. This certification recognizes our efforts to promote employee wellness, conserve resources, improve energy and water efficiency, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Key actions supporting this certification include offsetting 100% of our electricity through RECs with Clean Energy Alliance, upgrading to LED lighting fixtures, adopting a formal environmental policy, and beginning the process for TRUE Zero Waste certification.
As a leading green business in our city and state, we are proud to model sustainable operations — not only for our own office but also for the clients we serve. These certifications demonstrate our commitment to energy efficiency, innovation, and the practical application of green building frameworks to drive measurable impact. |

| | As the regulatory landscape shifts, Verdani remains closely engaged in monitoring federal actions impacting climate, natural resources, and environmental programs. With key protections like the EPA’s funding and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) facing renewed challenges, we are committed to staying informed — and using our platform to advocate for strong, science-based climate action. We will continue to provide updates as new developments unfold, reinforcing our mission to advance sustainability in every way we can.
Monitoring Federal Environmental Policy Changes Recent federal actions are reshaping the landscape for climate and environmental protections: EPA Deregulatory Push: The EPA has announced multiple planned deregulatory actions, targeting environmental protections across multiple sectors. (source) Fast-Tracking Fossil Fuel Projects: The Department of the Interior is expediting fossil fuel and mining permits, cutting environmental review times dramatically. Pausing Renewable Energy Authorizations: Federal approvals for solar, storage, and geothermal projects on public lands have been temporarily suspended, creating new barriers to clean energy growth.
At Verdani, we are closely tracking these developments. Now more than ever, it’s critical to stay informed, speak out, and advocate for policies that protect our environment and support a clean energy future.
Encouraging Environmental Progress Let's not forget to celebrate the good news: Renewable Energy Surpassed Coal in the U.S.: In 2024, wind and solar energy combined to generate more electricity than coal in the United States for the first time. This milestone reflects a significant shift toward cleaner energy sources and a reduction in carbon emissions. 89% Public Support for Climate Action: A global survey that interviewed 130,000 people across 125 countries found 89% support stronger governmental action to combat climate change, indicating a robust public mandate for environmental policies. (SOURCE)
We encourage everyone in our community to engage — whether by staying updated, supporting science-based policies and programs, or joining efforts to advance sustainability at every level. |
